this culprit

image1242864612.jpgThis is the guy who got our hotel rooms, picking a hotel an hour outside Indy. If he's also the mystery fart machine, I say we leave him at a rest stop to beg rides from red-bull-raging truckers.

Sample Video from the road

This isn't very good at all, but at least it's short.  Far shorter than the drive.

now I'm sure

six am, dawn.

image1169048268.jpgSo, it's dawn. The truck is great -- gotta appreciate a vehicle big enough fir the five if us. And the DVD player made it easy to get through the early hours.

But it isn't perfect.

To begin with, back here in the rumble seat, between the distance and the speakers that are throbbing righ in my ears, I might as well be in a different vehicle. I feel like I'm in a different time zone.

The road to GenCon

image657006206.jpgThis is my view as we set off. And yes, that means I got the third row seat back with the luggage and kiddie seat. It's awesome.

The good news us we're in some brand new monstrosity of an SUV. I'm not tasting my own knee.

I'm close enough to smell it, but not tasting it.

The RightTool for the Job

I am in the middle of getting ready to go to Gen Con.  And, for me at least, coming up with the right collection of technology to take with me is going to be pretty important.

I love Gen Con -- it's days and days of a complete celebration of things I love.  For our group of gamers, the centerpiece is, or has been, the D&D CHampionship.  And this year, we are entering a second tournament (goodman games) and we're actually going to have a full team of 5 from our home game, and won't be picking up other guys in Indy.

Skill Challenges as a part of monsters?

I spotted a link to this article in Mearls' twitter flow . . . .

I'm intrigued by the idea -- although I think it needs some serious fleshing out.  I'm going to be keeping an eye on these guys . . .

Actually, though, I want to think about trying to use something along these lines in my next game session -- I have a little over a week to plan it, so I have some time to chew on it.

State of the Union ... er ... game ... er ... whatever

We've been playing a lot lately -- although one of my two campaigns hasn't managed to have a session in a while.

My "serious" group has a core of 5 guys who are going to Gencon and we're going to be playing in both the D&D Championship and the Goodman Games tournament.  We've been doing a lot of practicing  with our championship characters -- playing extra evening sessions, in addition to my home campaign for that group.

It shouldn't be this hard

I'm working on a Project Management/tracking site for work.  it's driving me up the wall.  I've been going around and around trying to get the usability of the dashboard views right using contrib modules, and every time I try another path I end up on a dead end. It's INCREDIBLY frustrating.

I started with Storm -- which is on the way to being somethign that will be really great, but I don't have the time to wait for it to be completed -- so I'm going to have to roll my own recipie.  And, so, the adventure begins.
